“A UK-based solo travel blogger, that loves remote lifestyles and avoiding the 9-5”
Born and raised in the leafy Hertfordshire/London suburbs, I’ve been travelling solo since late 2015. Venturing across the globe on my own, as part of organised group tours or making my way to new cities and regions on my own.
With a love for the random, the affordable, and the sustainable, I’ve found a love for sharing my travels, creating Roaming With Chris as a place to share my tips and tricks, as well as the things I’ve found along the way.
How I typically travel
- I love extended breaks or long weekends, visiting lesser-known (or advertised) destinations and attractions. Though that’s not to say I don’t visit popular tourist destinations.
- I’ll usually travel on something of a budget or mid-budget, staying in “plush” hostels so I can meet people when solo but also save the pennies, to then spend on visiting attractions or future trips.
- I pretty much run on caffeine, pastries, and alcohol when visiting new destinations. Sniffing out independent coffee shops, bakeries, and pubs or bars.
- Ticking off the main sights is great but I love to find the unusual and obscure, or finding areas I can meet and experience the local history, life and culture.
Things I like to blog about…
From things to do in the various places I’ve visited to packing and planning tips, I try to cover the majority of things you could experience when travelling. Now, I’m not going to say I’ll have all the answers but hopefully, I can help you plan your next adventures.

About Chris
Hi again! Welcome to my little travel website, where I share tips and guides from my own travels and life as a remote worker. Unlike many of my contemporaries, I caught the travel bug pretty late (when I was 23) and have been trying to make up for lost time since then, joining group tours or setting off on solo trips whilst using up my annual leave.
I first started blogging and building a (failed) travel-related website back in 2016 as a way to share my travels and help fund more adventures. However, realising I was out of my depth I started to learn about digital marketing and SEO, getting my first job in the SEO industry back in 2017.
After a few years of working in SEO and digital marketing agencies, and fitting my travel around work, I quit agency life and went freelance with the aim of becoming a fully remote blogger and content consultant in 2020…
Clearly, that didn’t happen.
Since mid-2022 I’ve reignited my travel plans, quitting work for several months to Interrail around Europe and have my first taste of “long-term” travel. Well, let me tell you, that felt just like my first trip back in 2015 and the bug is more than back, and I’ll be using this site to help share my adventures as a 30+ solo traveller.
